Lunch with a View: Why Snooky’s Oceanfront is a Family (and Fur-Baby) Favorite

There is a very specific window of time on a beach vacation that every mom knows all too well. It’s right around 1:00 PM. We’ve been in the sun all morning, the sunscreen is wearing off, the salt water has everyone working up a massive appetite, and the "hangry" phase is dangerously close to setting in.

I wanted food—good food—but I wasn’t ready to give up that ocean view just yet. And, to add a layer of complexity to our dining decisions, we had our sweet Golden Retriever with us.

This week, we ventured out to Snooky’s Oceanfront, and let me tell y’all, it saved the day. If you’re looking for a spot that captures the essence of a laid-back Southern beach lunch and actually accommodates the whole circus (dog included), this is it.

The Atmosphere: Salt Air and Wagging Tails

First off, the location is unbeatable. We sat on the outdoor back patio, which offers a view of the ocean. There is something about eating lunch while listening to the waves crash that just lowers my blood pressure instantly.

But the biggest win for me? It is genuinely pet-friendly.

We brought our Golden Retriever along, and the staff didn’t just tolerate her; they welcomed her! It can be stressful trying to find places that accommodate a large dog, but Snooky’s made it a breeze. She was happy to chill on the cool concrete of the patio while we dined, soaking up the attention (and head scratches) from the super friendly staff.

The Menu: A Smash Hit (Literally)

We came hungry, and Snooky’s did not disappoint. Here is the breakdown of our family feast:

  • The Husband’s Pick: My husband asked about the special, which happened to be a Smashburger. He is a bit of a burger snob, and he said the seasoning on the beef was savory and perfectly charred. He also declared the french fries "impeccable"—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside.

  • The Caesar Twist: I opted for something a bit lighter but still indulgent. I ordered the huge Caesar salad, but with a twist: bacon. It added a smoky, salty crunch that elevated the traditional salad into a meal that actually kept me full until dinner.

  • The Cheese Fanatic: Our son, who firmly believes cheese is its own food group, was in heaven. He ordered the grilled cheese with a side of mac and cheese (yes, cheese with a side of cheese!). The coolest part? It was served on its own mini frisbee! Even better, we were able to keep the frisbee and take it down to the sand to play with afterward. Any meal that comes with a built-in beach toy is a "Mom Win" in my book.

  • Growing Up Too Fast: Our daughter decided to skip the kids' meals entirely and couldn't resist getting the Smashburger as well. It was a big portion, but she polished it off!

The Service

I have to give a special shout-out to the service. Despite it being a busy lunch rush, our server was attentive, smiling, and incredibly accommodating to our chaotic mix of kids and a dog. That kind of "Southern Hospitality" is exactly what we look for when we recommend places to our guests.

Bringing the "Chill" Back Home

After a lunch that filling (and a little playtime with that souvenir frisbee), we were ready to roll back to the condo for some downtime.

While we love dining out, there is nothing quite like coming back to the cool, quiet comfort of Oceans Edge.

When we get back from a big meal, I usually gravitate right here to the kitchen island. It is such a relief to have a spacious spot to drop the beach bags, organize the sunscreen for tomorrow, and pour everyone some ice-cold water. The blue accents and clean white counters just keep that ocean vibe going, even when we are indoors escaping the midday heat.

Whether you are whipping up a full breakfast before hitting the sand, or just need a beautiful spot to sort through the day's seashells, our kitchen is designed to make life easier for families like ours.

Have you tried Snooky’s yet? Let us know what your favorite menu item is! And if you’re looking for a home base that’s as family-friendly as your favorite restaurant, we’d love to host you.

See you at the beach!
