More Than Just Meals: Why Our Kitchen is the Heart of Your NMB Vacation
We’ve all been there. It’s 6:30 PM, everyone is sun-drained and slightly sunburned, the toddler is approaching "hangry" status, and the idea of getting dressed, driving to a restaurant, and waiting 45 minutes for a table feels less like a vacation and more like an endurance sport.
When we first bought Oceans Edge, we knew the kitchen had to be more than just a place to store cold drinks. As parents who travel, we know that the best memories often happen over a stack of pancakes in pajamas or a late-night slice of pizza while listening to the waves.
We wanted to create a space that saves your sanity (and your wallet), without sacrificing that luxurious vacation feel.
The "Chef" Shouldn't Be Lonely
In many older beach rentals, the kitchen is a dark little galley tucked away in the back. The cook gets stuck staring at a wall while everyone else is laughing in the living room or watching the dolphins from the balcony.
We designed our space differently.
At Oceans Edge, we embrace an open-concept design. The kitchen flows seamlessly into the living area, separated only by a spacious breakfast bar. This means you can be chopping vegetables on the counter or flipping grilled cheese sandwiches and still be part of the conversation.
Best of all? You can see the ocean right from the kitchen. There is something truly therapeutic about preparing a meal while watching the Atlantic horizon. It turns a chore into a moment of zen.
Stocking Up: The "Local" Way
One of the biggest perks of booking a condo over a hotel is the budget flexibility. Eating out for every meal in North Myrtle Beach can cost a family of four a small fortune. By cooking just breakfast and lunch in the condo, you free up your budget for big, memorable dinners or extra excursions (like that dolphin cruise the kids have been eyeing!).
For our guests planning an extended stay, we’ve made sure there is plenty of pantry space. You don’t have to live out of grocery bags on the floor.
Local Insider Tip: Skip the big box stores on the highway. Once you check in, head straight to Boulineau’s IGA. It’s practically a North Myrtle Beach landmark. Yes, it’s a grocery store, but it’s also an experience! They have everything you need, and it’s just a short drive from us.
The Oceans Edge "Starter Kit"
Not sure what to buy? Here is our family’s go-to list for a stress-free week. We keep our kitchen stocked with all the cookware, stainless steel appliances, and utensils you need, so all you have to grab are the ingredients:
The "Easy Morning" Essentials: Coffee (vital!), eggs, bacon, and a loaf of bread. There is nothing like the smell of bacon sizzling in the morning with the balcony door cracked open to let in the salt air.
Beach Picnic Supplies: Deli meat, cheese, chips, and fruit. We have plenty of counter space to set up a sandwich assembly line before heading down to the sand.
The "Lowcountry" Night In: This is our favorite. Head to Platt’s Seafood (we’ll do a full feature on them soon!) and pick up fresh shrimp, corn on the cob, potatoes, and sausage.
Come Cook with a View
Whether you are a serious foodie who wants to try your hand at local recipes, or a busy parent just looking for the convenience of a quick bowl of cereal, our kitchen is ready for you.
We’ve filled the drawers with gadgets and the cabinets with white dishes because we want you to feel at home. We want you to feel the breeze, taste the fresh food, and focus on what matters most: connecting with the people you love.
