Winter at Cherry Grove Point: Quiet Beaches, Oceanfront Views, and a Different Kind of Getaway

Winter at the beach surprises people — especially here at Cherry Grove Point.

While North Myrtle Beach is known as a summer destination, winter brings something entirely different: space, calm, and a chance to enjoy the ocean without the crowds. Oceans Edge has quickly become our favorite place to be this time of year.

Some winter days are unexpectedly warm — we’ve had visits where it’s 70 degrees, sunny, and the shoreline feels almost private. Other days are crisp and cool, perfect for throwing on a jacket and heading out for a long walk along the water. Either way, the beach feels peaceful and unhurried.

One of our favorite spots is Cherry Grove Point, just a short walk from the condo. In winter, low tides often reveal tide pools where we’ve found starfish and other ocean treasures. It’s quiet, scenic, and feels untouched — the kind of place you naturally slow down.

The sunrises and sunsets this time of year are especially beautiful. The light changes quickly, the sky opens up, and sometimes the views feel unreal — like the time we watched a rainbow end right in front of the condo. Moments like that are why we keep coming back.

Even on colder days, the beach is still part of the experience. We’ve bundled up, set up our chairs with blankets, and watched the waves roll in with hardly anyone else around. And when it’s extra chilly, staying at the condo is just as enjoyable.

From the balcony, living room or dining table, we often see dolphins swimming by while we’re reading, playing games, or sharing a meal. The condo is stocked with puzzles, games, and books, making it easy to slow down and enjoy time together. The kitchen is fully equipped, so winter evenings often include cooking a favorite meal or baking cookies while the ocean rolls outside.

Oceanfront dining in winter — no crowds, no wait, and unbeatable views in North Myrtle Beach.

Another winter perk that surprises guests: North Myrtle Beach stays open year-round. Restaurants, shops, and local favorites don’t shut down like they do in smaller beach towns. When we head out to eat, there’s no waiting — we’re seated right away, often with the best views in the house. One afternoon we sat oceanfront at Snooky's Oceanfront, coats on, waves in front of us, and nearly the whole place to ourselves.

Winter at Oceans Edge isn’t about checking off attractions. It’s about space, comfort, and being close to the ocean in a way that feels easy and unforced. If you’re looking for a calm oceanfront escape — with wide beaches, beautiful light, and time to actually enjoy where you are — winter at Cherry Grove Point might surprise you too.

If a quieter beach getaway sounds like your kind of stay, Oceans Edge offers winter availability for peaceful oceanfront escapes at Cherry Grove Point.
